Mindfulness teacher is not a protected title. BAMBA is the voluntary professional body for secular, evidence-based teaching. Its register is not a statute. NHS and commissioned buyers still use it as the practical check. A weekend diploma is not that pathway. Observed Guild teacher training is assessed teaching. It is not BAMBA membership.
The realistic route
Complete an eight-week as a participant first
Teacher training that skips the participant course is selling a title. BAMBA's public materials treat that eight-week as a prerequisite, not the qualification. If you have not sat one, sit one. Then decide whether you are teaching a course or facilitating a short practice.
Decide whether commissioners will check BAMBA
If they will, start from BAMBA's quality-assessed affiliates. A Guild cohort is observed eight-week teaching with the limit printed. It is not that register. Do not let a sales page blur them.
Get watched teaching a course form
Inquiry, pacing, holding a group, and a practice log that can fail. A script for a ten-minute sit is a different product — facilitation. If you intended to charge for an eight-week, buy the teaching product.
Keep a personal practice, including extended practice
Teachers who do not sit are selling a performance. Retreat or equivalent extended practice appears in the body's guidelines for a reason. We can assess a plan. We cannot host a residential we do not run.
Write teacher, facilitator or registered — pick one that is true

What does a mindfulness teacher actually do?
They teach a structured course form, usually eight weeks, with inquiry and home practice, while keeping a personal practice. They are not therapists unless they also hold that training. Commissioners who care will ask about BAMBA. Private groups will ask who watched you teach.

Do you need BAMBA registration to teach mindfulness?
Not legally. If the buyer will look up the register, that is the pathway to buy. If you needed someone to watch you teach a course, observed training with the limit stated is the honest product. A weekend PDF is neither. Completing an eight-week as a student does not make you a teacher.
How much does a mindfulness teacher earn in the UK?
We will not invent a band. Commissioned NHS-linked work and private groups are different stories, and neither is a function of a weekend diploma. If a course quotes a typical salary, ask whether the respondents were BAMBA-registered teachers rather than weekend graduates.
