What you will be able to do

  • Guide a short mindfulness practice without reading it as a script you have not embodied
  • Hold a group including people for whom sitting still is not safe or not possible
  • Keep a personal-practice log that would survive a supervisor's questions
  • State, in one sentence, that this is not BAMBA-registered teacher training
  • Refer when mindfulness is the wrong intervention
  • Design an eight-week workplace-safe sequence that does not medicalise stress

Who this is for

  • Coaches adding a facilitated mindfulness offer they can actually run
  • Workplace wellbeing leads who will be asked to 'do a session'
  • Yoga and movement teachers adding a sitting practice with a safety frame
  • People with an established personal practice who want observed teaching, not a PDF

Who this is not for

  • Anyone who needed BAMBA-aligned teacher training for NHS or commissioned work — see Mindfulness Teacher Training, which is still not BAMBA registration
  • Anyone without a personal practice they are willing to keep and log
  • Anyone treating mindfulness as a treatment for trauma or psychosis

What you need before you start

  • An established personal mindfulness practice of at least six months
  • Willingness to be observed teaching a short practice

How you are assessed

A recorded teaching segment of a short practice, a personal-practice log covering the eight weeks, and a written safety note on contraindications, marked by Marcus Vale. Written feedback with one free resubmission. All three elements must pass — watching the sessions does not.

Our accreditation applications are in progress. We do not display an accreditation mark before it is granted — see the current status.

After you pass

  • Session structure templates for workplace and small-group work
  • Practitioner directory listing on passing

What is mindfulness facilitation?

Mindfulness facilitation is guiding a group or an individual through a practice you have trained in, with consent, opt-outs and a clear limit on what you claim it treats. It is not a medical intervention and it is not BAMBA-registered teacher status. The skill is in the room: pacing, safety and not turning a sit into a sermon.

Is mindfulness teaching regulated in the UK?

No. Anyone may teach mindfulness or use the title. The British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches is the voluntary professional body for secular, evidence-based teaching. Its register is not a statute. Employers and NHS commissioners still use it as the practical check, which is why a weekend PDF is usually selling a different product.

Does this programme lead to BAMBA registration?

No. BAMBA-aligned teacher training has its own pathway, including personal completion of an eight-week MBSR or MBCT course, teacher training, supervision and further taught groups. This programme trains observed facilitation for coaches and workplace leads. If you need BAMBA status, start from BAMBA, not from a marketplace diploma.

How is this different from a self-paced mindfulness diploma?

Someone watches you teach. You keep a practice log that can fail. The certificate states that it is not BAMBA registration. A self-paced diploma can teach you definitions. It cannot tell you whether your guidance was safe, followable, or a performance of calm you do not have.

Common questions

Do I already need to have done an eight-week MBSR course?

You need an established personal practice of at least six months. An eight-week MBSR or MBCT course as a participant is the usual BAMBA prerequisite for teacher training; it is recommended here and not a substitute for observed teaching on this programme.

Can I call myself a mindfulness teacher after this?

The title is unprotected, so legally yes. Commercially, say what you passed: observed facilitation on a Guild programme, not BAMBA-registered teacher training. Over-claiming is how this market loses commissioners.

Is this Mental Health First Aid or clinical mindfulness?

Neither. It is facilitation skills. Clinical MBCT for depression is a different, accredited pathway. MHFA is licensed by a different body.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Three-month and six-month interest-free plans total exactly £399.
