Why we run small live cohorts at premium prices instead of a large cheap course library, and what we will and will not claim about our credentials.
Why we exist
You can now get most of the information in most online courses free, instantly, from a chat window. That is not a temporary market condition — it is permanent, and it means a business built on packaging information has no product left to sell.
What has not been commoditised is everything that requires a person: a specialist watching you practise and telling you where you are wrong, a deadline you are accountable to, a group of peers who become your professional network, and an assessment somebody qualified put their name to. Those things are expensive to deliver, and that is precisely why they are still worth buying.
So we built the opposite of a large cheap catalogue. A small number of programmes, each taught live by someone who does the work professionally, capped so the tutor knows your name, and assessed against a rubric we publish.
What we commit to
- Live, not recorded
- Every programme runs as a cohort with fixed dates and a tutor in the room. Sessions are recorded for catch-up, never used as a substitute.
- One honest price
- We never discount. The price you see is the price everyone pays, so nobody who enrolled last week paid more than you.
- Assessed, not attended
- Credentials are earned through marked assessment. A certificate from us means somebody qualified read your work.
- Small by design
- Cohorts are capped so the tutor knows your name and your peers become your network.
What we will not claim
Every one of these is a claim routinely made by providers in this market. We think stating that we will not make them is more useful than another page of benefits.
- That our credentials let you practise a regulated profession. No private provider can grant that.
- That an accreditation logo is a regulated qualification. It is not, and conflating them misleads people.
- Confident earnings figures for unregulated fields where no reliable survey data exists.
- That you can qualify in a weekend. You can complete something in a weekend; you cannot be assessed properly in one.
- That a discount is ending soon. We have no discounts to end.

Who is behind The Study Guild?
The Study Guild Ltd is a UK company. Our tutors are named individually with verifiable credentials on every programme page, which we consider more useful than a founder story.
Are you accredited?
Not yet. Applications are in progress and we publish their exact status. We will not display an accreditation mark before it is granted, which is a lower bar than it should be in this market.
Why are you more expensive than other providers?
Because live tuition and human marking cost money per learner, and recorded content does not. A capped cohort with a specialist tutor marking every submission cannot be sold at course-library prices without one of those things being untrue.
Do you use AI to teach or mark?
AI is not used to mark assessed work — a named human assessor does that, and their name is on your feedback. We are building an AI study coach as a between-sessions support tool, and it will be clearly labelled as such when it launches.
