What should you check before enrolling on hypnotherapy training?
Which register, if any, the course prepares you for, whether that register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, how many supervised practice hours are included, and the total cost including exam and first-year membership. A provider who cannot answer those in writing is selling a certificate, not a pathway.

Is a weekend hypnotherapy certificate enough to practise?
Legally, yes, because nobody can stop you using the title. Practically, no, if you wanted insurance, a checkable register, or clients who look those things up. Weekend formats omit supervised practice. That omission is the point of the price, not an accidental gap.

Who should skip a weekend hypnotherapy certificate?
Anyone who needed PSA-accredited register eligibility. Anyone planning to work with complex trauma, psychosis or eating disorders without clinical training. Anyone who believed the certificate would satisfy an employer who named BACP, UKCP or HCPC. The advertised fee is often the smallest line once exam and registration are added.
Skip also if you wanted NHS clinical work. Complementary diplomas do not create that route. Ask the insurer what they will cover before you print business cards; many policies exclude work with children or trauma even when the course advertised those applications. Observed skills training that states it is not CNHC eligibility is a better buy than an unwatched weekend, and it is still not the register. If the buying criterion is the register this year, start from CNHC and work backwards. That search is slower and it is the one that survives an insurer's form.
