How do you get an ICF coaching credential in the UK?

The exact hour counts and the routes available are set by the ICF and change periodically, so check their own credentialling pages before planning around any number — including the ones on this page.

What matters strategically is the shape of it. Training hours are the part a provider supplies. Client hours, mentor coaching and the performance evaluation are largely on you, and they are what actually takes the time — typically a year or more alongside other work.

This distinction gets blurred constantly in marketing, so it is worth being precise about the three things that sound alike and are not:

• An ICF-accredited programme — the ICF has approved the training, so its hours count.
• A provider's own diploma — issued by the provider, worth whatever their reputation is worth.
• An ICF credential (ACC, PCC, MCC) — awarded by the ICF, appears on their public register.

Only the third is checkable by a client on the ICF register.

That means if your goal is specifically an ICF credential and you want the shortest path to it, you should compare ICF-accredited providers rather than starting with us. Saying so costs us enquiries and is obviously true, so there is no point pretending.

Where we think we are the better choice is different: assessed recorded practice marked by a named PCC-credentialled assessor against a published rubric, a capped cohort, and business training treated as assessed content rather than a bonus module. Several people take our programme alongside an ICF route rather than instead of one.

In practical terms, the training hours and the assessed recordings are directly relevant to a later ICF application. The mentor coaching and the ICF's own performance evaluation are separate and you arrange them yourself.
