Sarah is a qualified teacher who spent fifteen years as a SENCO in mainstream schools and now trains support staff. She teaches the Guild's SEND practice programme because autism-awareness diplomas still sound like classroom jobs. She covers the Code of Practice, EHCP literacy and working under a designated SENCO. She will not award QTS or the NPQ for SENCOs, and she will fail work that claims otherwise.

Sarah leads SEND Practice for School Staff. She teaches live, marks a school-facing case study, and fails work that claims the national SENCO qualification or a right to diagnose. The programme is for teaching assistants, pastoral staff and teachers already in post. It is not QTS and it is not the NPQ for SENCOs.
What is Sarah Okeke's SEND background?
Sarah holds QTS and the former National Award for SEN Co-ordination, with fifteen years as a designated SENCO. She knows what the statutory role actually requires, which is why a marketplace diploma cannot stand in for it. Support-staff practice is a real product. The mandatory SENCO qualification is a different, school-employed pathway.
Will Sarah Okeke's programme make you a SENCO?
No. In maintained mainstream schools in England the SENCO must be a qualified teacher, and new SENCOs must complete the NPQ for SENCOs within three years of appointment. A ten-week cohort cannot be that qualification. If the designated role is the goal, start from GOV.UK and an NPQ provider, not from us.
