  • MBChB
  • MRCGP
  • British Menopause Society Advanced Certificate

Amara spent eleven years as an NHS GP with a special interest in women's health, latterly leading a community menopause service covering four practices. She moved into practitioner education after repeatedly meeting coaches who were enthusiastic, well-meaning and working from information that was a decade out of date. She now designs and teaches the Guild's women's health programmes, and sits on the panel that reviews our clinical content for accuracy.

What does Dr Amara Okafor teach at The Study Guild?

Amara leads the Menopause Wellness Coaching programme and reviews all clinical content across the Guild's women's health curriculum. She teaches the live sessions herself, marks the case study assessments personally, and holds the weekly clinic where learners bring real client scenarios for structured discussion and feedback.

What is Dr Amara Okafor's clinical background?

Amara qualified in medicine and practised as an NHS GP for eleven years, holding membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She led a community menopause service across four practices and holds the British Menopause Society Advanced Certificate, the recognised postgraduate qualification in menopause care.

Why does a doctor teach a coaching programme?

Menopause coaching sits directly alongside medical care, so the boundary matters. A clinician teaching the programme means learners are taught precisely where coaching helps, where it must stop, and how to refer well. That boundary is the difference between a safe practitioner and a risky one.
