# Counsellor training with placement

What UK counsellor training with placement requires, why we cannot host hours or award BACP accreditation, and how that differs from skills.

## What is counsellor training with placement?

Taught skills, ethics, personal therapy requirements and supervised client hours in a setting that hosts trainees. The hours are the part no PDF can manufacture. A provider who cannot say who hosts them, who supervises them, and what happens if you cannot find them is selling a certificate name, not a qualification.

## Does a Guild placement log equal BACP registration?

No. BACP and UKCP register people who complete accredited training that meets their published rules. Completing our log does not put you on those registers. The diploma is assessed practice plus evidenced hours. It is the honest longer product. It is not a substitute for an accredited course list.

## Who should skip a non-accredited counselling diploma?

Anyone whose employer named BACP or UKCP registration this year. Anyone who expected the provider to host a clinic. Anyone unwilling to search for a placement. Anyone who only needed listening skills for management. The diploma is the right buy if you wanted hours marked. It is the wrong buy if you needed a named body's stamp.


Skip also if you cannot complete personal therapy and supervision as specified. Those are not
optional colour. Skills courses skip them because the product is different. See the parent

## Common questions

**Why does The Study Guild not host placements?**

Because we do not run a clinic. Inventing hours would be easy and we will not. You source the placement; we mark the log.

**Is counsellor a protected title?**

No. Employers still ask about BACP or UKCP. Do not use registered-counsellor language after a non-accredited diploma.
