Through a substantial training course at diploma level or above, including several hundred hours of supervised client placement and personal therapy requirements, followed by registration with a body such as the BACP or UKCP. It typically takes three to four years part-time. The placement hours are the reason it cannot be shortened. You have to see real clients under supervision, and that requires a placement provider willing to host you, which no online course can supply on its own.
