A 10-week live relationship-coaching programme with marked recordings, taught by an ICF PCC who still runs a couples-coaching practice.

## Programme facts

- Format: Live online + self-paced
- Live contact hours: 20
- Expected self-study hours: 40
- Duration: 10 weeks

- Tutor: francesca-rossi

## Learning outcomes

- Contract with two clients so both have consented to the same scope
- Run a structured session that does not take sides by accident
- Name the moment the work has become therapy and stop
- Work with conflict without becoming a referee or a rescuer
- Refer to couples therapy, domestic-abuse services or crisis support
- Price a package that does not depend on saving the relationship

## Curriculum

1. **Coaching two people** — Consent, notes, secrets and who the client is when the payer is one partner.
Topics: Joint contracting; No-secrets policies; Individual sessions inside a couple offer; Ending
2. **Not therapy** — Trauma, coercion, addiction and the presentations you refer rather than explore.
Topics: Domestic abuse signposting; When one person wants out; Clinical depression in the room; Insurance wording
3. **Repair conversations** — Structure for conflict that does not become a cross-examination.
Topics: Turn-taking that holds; Requests versus verdicts; Repair after contempt; Triad practice
4. **Agreements that survive Tuesday** — Money, chores, sex, families — coaching the agreement, not imposing yours.
Topics: Values without moralising; Renegotiation; Blended families; Recorded session one
5. **Affairs, endings and neutrality** — The sessions where taking a side is the failure mode.
Topics: Disclosure; Separation coaching versus reconciliation; Children as a constraint, not a client; Your own material
6. **Individuals on relational goals** — Coaching one person about a relationship the other has not consented to discuss with you.
Topics: What you may not do; Inviting the partner; Dating after a long relationship; Scope drift
7. **The offer** — Naming the service so a therapist, a client and an insurer hear the same thing.
Topics: Directory language; Packages; When to refuse the work; Pricing
8. **Assessment clinic** — Live review of two-client recordings.
Topics: Neutrality fails; Resubmission; Supervision; First paying pair
9. **Legal and safety floor** — Confidentiality limits, safeguarding and what you write down.
Topics: UK GDPR for couple notes; Safeguarding adults; Court and solicitors; Professional indemnity
10. **What the certificate does not say** — A pass is assessed relationship coaching. It is not a therapy qualification.
Topics: Titles you will not use; BACP and UKCP are different jobs; Continuing development; Second assessed session

## Assessment

Two recorded sessions — at least one with two clients — plus a written boundary protocol, marked by Francesca Rossi. Written feedback with one free resubmission. Work that treats coaching as covert couples therapy does not pass.

## Upcoming cohorts

- 2026-11-03 to 2027-01-19 — Tuesdays 19:00–21:00 UK, 10 weeks (no session 22 or 29 December) (open, cap 16)
- 2027-02-23 to 2027-05-04 — Tuesdays 19:00–21:00 UK, 10 weeks (open, cap 16)

## What is relationship coaching?

Relationship coaching is structured work with two functioning adults, or with one person on relational goals, to make agreements and repair conversations they have chosen. It is not couples therapy and not a rescue service. The coach does not take a side, does not treat trauma as a coaching task, and refers when the work needs a clinical frame.

## Do you need a qualification to be a relationship coach in the UK?

No. The title is unprotected. Couples therapy and counselling sit in different training and registration pathways. Informed clients still ask who watched you work with two people in the room. A self-paced diploma cannot answer that, which is why this programme assesses recordings and can fail them.

## Is this couples-therapy training?

No. Therapy qualifications run through counselling and psychotherapy bodies with placement hours this programme does not provide. If you need to work as a couples therapist, start from BACP or UKCP accredited lists. If you need assessed coaching with two clients, this is the honest product.

## How is this different from a self-paced relationship diploma?

Two clients are in the recording. A therapist-trained tutor can fail you for treating the session as covert therapy. A self-paced diploma can teach communication models. It cannot tell a buyer whether you stayed neutral when one partner wanted out and the other wanted you to take their side.

## Common questions

**Can I work with couples in conflict?**

Yes, inside a coaching contract, if both have consented and you can stop when the work is clinical or when there is abuse. Conflict is not automatically therapy. Coercion is not coaching.

**Do I need to be in a relationship myself?**

No. Your own relationship history is material to take to supervision, not a credential.

**Is this Relate training?**

No. Relate is a separate organisation with its own training. We do not award their qualification.

**Can I pay in instalments?**

Yes. Interest-free plans total exactly £449.
