## Curriculum

1. **The physiology you actually need** — Hormonal changes across perimenopause and menopause, and how to describe them to a client without oversimplifying or overreaching.
Topics: Perimenopause versus menopause versus postmenopause; Oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone in midlife; Symptom clusters and why they vary so widely; Explaining physiology in plain language
2. **Red flags and referral** — The presentations that require medical assessment, and how to refer without alarming a client or overstepping.
Topics: Postmenopausal bleeding and other urgent presentations; Differentiating menopause from thyroid, anaemia and mood disorders; Writing a referral note; Holding the boundary when a client pushes
3. **HRT: what a coach must understand** — Enough accurate knowledge of hormone therapy to support an informed client conversation, and a clear line at giving advice.
Topics: Types, routes and current UK guidance; The 2002 WHI study and how its findings were misreported; Supporting a client preparing for a GP appointment; What a coach must never say about HRT
4. **Sleep, and why it collapses first** — The mechanisms behind menopausal sleep disruption and the behavioural strategies with genuine evidence behind them.
Topics: Vasomotor symptoms and sleep architecture; Sleep hygiene: what works and what does not; CBT-for-insomnia principles a coach can use; When disturbed sleep needs clinical input
5. **Nutrition without the nonsense** — Evidence-based nutritional support for midlife, and how to handle the supplement claims clients arrive with.
Topics: Bone and cardiovascular health in midlife; Protein, fibre and the realistic wins; Assessing supplement claims; Working alongside a registered dietitian
6. **Strength, movement and body composition** — Why resistance training matters more after menopause, and how to coach it for women who have never trained.
Topics: Sarcopenia and bone density; Programming for beginners in midlife; Joint pain and adaptation; Sustaining a habit past week three
7. **The psychological load** — Mood, anxiety, identity and the caring responsibilities that often peak at the same age.
Topics: Mood changes: hormonal, situational, or both; Coaching through identity shift; Recognising depression and referring; The sandwich generation
8. **Menopause at work** — Supporting clients through workplace conversations, and the growing corporate market for menopause training.
Topics: UK employment law and menopause; Preparing a client for a manager conversation; Designing a workplace session; Pricing corporate work
9. **Running a safe, insured practice** — Contracts, insurance, record keeping and data protection for a UK coaching practice.
Topics: Professional indemnity insurance; Client contracts and informed consent; UK GDPR for a one-person practice; Supervision and continuing development
10. **Case work clinic and assessment** — Live review of learners' real case studies, with structured feedback from the cohort and the tutor.
Topics: Presenting a case; Peer review structure; Common assessment errors; Planning your first ten clients

## Assessment

Two written case studies of 1,500 words each, submitted in weeks 6 and 10, marked by Dr Amara Okafor against a published rubric covering clinical safety, coaching structure and referral judgement. Learners receive individual written feedback and may resubmit once at no cost. A pass on both case studies is required for the certificate — attendance alone does not earn it.

## Upcoming cohorts

- 2026-09-15 to 2026-11-24 — Tuesdays 19:00–21:00 UK, 10 weeks (open, cap 24)
- 2027-01-19 to 2027-03-30 — Tuesdays 19:00–21:00 UK, 10 weeks (open, cap 24)

## What is menopause coaching?

Menopause coaching is structured non-clinical support helping women manage perimenopause and menopause through sleep, nutrition, movement and psychological strategies. A menopause coach does not diagnose or prescribe. The role sits alongside medical care, helping women act on decisions they have made with their doctor.

The distinction matters more here than in most coaching niches. Menopause symptoms overlap with
thyroid disease, anaemia, depression and, occasionally, gynaecological cancers. A coach who
cannot recognise those overlaps is not merely unhelpful — they can delay a diagnosis.

That is why this programme is taught by a GP and why referral is assessed rather than mentioned.

## Do you need a qualification to be a menopause coach in the UK?

No. Menopause coaching is not a regulated profession in the UK, so no qualification is legally required to use the title. That is precisely why a credible, assessed qualification matters commercially: clients and employers have no statutory register to check, so they rely on what your training demonstrates.

Because the title is unprotected, the market contains a very wide range of competence. Buyers —
particularly corporate buyers commissioning workplace menopause support — increasingly ask what
the training involved and who marked the work.

An assessed programme taught by a clinician answers that question in one sentence. An unassessed
certificate of completion does not.

## How much can a menopause coach earn in the UK?

UK menopause coaches typically charge £60 to £120 an hour for one-to-one work, and £800 to £2,500 for a corporate workplace session. Earnings depend far more on client acquisition than on rate, which is why this programme assesses your practice plan alongside your coaching.

We are deliberately cautious here because reliable published data on this specific niche does not
exist. The figures above reflect advertised rates across UK practitioner directories rather than
a survey, and we will replace them with better evidence when better evidence exists.

What we can say with confidence: corporate workplace menopause training is the faster-growing
revenue line, and it is won on credibility rather than price.

## How is this different from a self-paced menopause course?

This programme runs live with a fixed cohort, is taught by an NHS menopause specialist GP, and requires two marked case studies to pass. A self-paced course delivers information. This delivers assessed competence, tutor feedback on your actual client work, and a peer group.

## Common questions

**Is this course accredited?**

Our CPD accreditation application is in progress and we will not display a mark before it is granted. The current status is published on our accreditation page. The programme is taught and assessed by a GP holding the British Menopause Society Advanced Certificate.

**Do I need a health background to enrol?**

No. Around half of each cohort comes from coaching, HR or a career change rather than healthcare. The programme teaches the physiology from the beginning and assesses whether you can apply it safely.

**What happens if I miss a live session?**

Every session is recorded and available within 24 hours, and there is a written summary. Recordings are catch-up, not a substitute — the assessed case work depends on the live practice, so we ask you to attend at least seven of the ten sessions.

**Can I pay in instalments?**

Yes. Three-month and six-month interest-free plans are available at checkout. The instalments always total exactly £449 — there is no plan surcharge and no discount for paying in full.

**What do I get at the end?**

A verified digital credential recording that you passed both assessed case studies, listing the assessor and the rubric. It is not a licence to practise medicine and does not claim to be.
